Our leaders want us to think they are taking illegal gun ownership and violence seriously, but the numbers tell a shockingly different story.

Both those for and against the Second Amendment typically agree on one thing: we have gun violence in America. For many, the answer is stricter gun control. For others, it’s a slap in the face that lawful owners are punished – and unable to defend themselves – while so many criminals run free.

New York City, bogged down by a swell in violent crime in recent years, is a glaring example. I almost fell off my chair when I dug down into the NYPD stats.
