Warzones: Getting Ready to Return to Ukraine

In November 2022, Hollie McKay will journey to Ukraine to cover the ongoing war. As these preparations progress, the Russians have abandoned Kherson in southern Ukraine. They have attacked Ukraine’s infrastructure with missiles and new intense fighting has broken out in the Donbas region in northeastern Ukraine.

An independent journalist reporting on a war zone takes a tremendous amount of planning. When the plan is to cover the lives of people on a war’s front lines, even more so. In this video, Hollie McKay shares some of what she does to prepare for the challenges of returning to an active conflict zone.
