Words that Never Leave You: “When well-loved, there is nothing that cannot be healed.”
Part Forty in an ongoing series from Hollie's book "Words That Never Leave You: Fifty Pearls of Wisdom and Reflection from Survivors Across the World."
As I ambled through East Africa one summer, I met an incredible survivor of endless wars in Sudan and later South Sudan named Becca. She lost loved ones, her sight in one eye, suffered sexual assault after fleeing her village and witnessed war in a way few in the West could hardly imagine. Yet just as melancholy can creep into vacant spaces of our minds, so too can fortitude. Becca taught me the power of healing, which begins in the mind.
“When well-loved,” she assured me with unflappable confidence. “There is nothing that cannot be healed.”
